Join the Carnegie Group of Thurston County and CELP this Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10:00 am – 3:30 pm in the First floor Conference Room, Cherberg Bldg. Washington State Capitol Campus, Olympia to learn about Scenarios of the Future in Washington and the Puget Sound.  This forum is to follow up on the Sustainable Thurston process, focusing on how the County should and will protect and preserve its water resources from the impacts of population growth and climate change. The morning session will consist of Brenda Snyder, MUD & MS, speaking about climate change impacts and the implications of planning and our own Rachael Osborn will be speaking about water law and climate change, moderated by John Dodge.  In the afternoon, the League of Women Voters will present their Water Study 2008 & Positions followed by a panel discussion on Water Resources for Thurston County: Implications for in-stream flows, water supplies and future growth.  Panelists include:
  • Scott Steltzner, Squaxin Island Tribe biologist,
  • Rich Hoey, City of Olympia, Director of Public Works, and
  • Karen Valenzuela, former Thurston County Commissioner and former member Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC)
