OUUC uses a policy-based governance model to share power, authority and responsibility; adapted to fit the needs of the congregation. Along with the OUUC Covenant, governance defines how we are in relationship as we do the work of the congregation working to bring about the loving, just and healthy world we envision. within OUUC and beyond.
The Board of Trustees are elected by members of the congregation. They operate based on the federal and state laws governing non-profit organizations and churches, the OUUC Bylaws, and the Governance Manual. The Board works on behalf of the current and future congregation, and is accountable to the congregation as a whole.
In collaboration with the minister, the Board sets the governance policies, determines the annual vision and goals, monitors the financial health of the congregation, and puts structures in place to ensure the long-term financial health of OUUC.
