Social Justice Team
The purpose and mission of the Social Justice Team at OUUC is to affirm and emphasize the ways in which we are interconnected, in order to promote justice and combat disparity in racial, economic, and other areas in our community.
We will strive toward this goal by: informing the congregation and others of like mind about social justice issues and activities; connecting social justice activists to each other, to allies, and to institutional support; and demonstrating and encouraging behaviors that engage and welcome all.

SWIFT (Siding With Immigrant Families Together)
We work for immigration justice and to oppose mass deportation. Join us!
We Believe
- All immigrants, including those who are undocumented, should be treated with dignity as human beings; and that
- The United States must prioritize the adoption of comprehensive, bipartisan immigration reform that addresses refugees and undocumented immigrants.
Mass Deportation
- Is immoral and inhumane.
- Violates the humanitarian, inclusive values of the world’s faith traditions.
- Deprives immigrants of their rights under United States law, undermining confidence in the rule of law.
- Creates fear and mistrust among neighbors in United States’ communities, widening social and political divisions.
- Separates children born in the United States from their immigrant parents, putting them at extreme risk.
- Traumatizes immigrants and the wider community.
- Seizes American citizens and others who are here legally.
- Disrupts the United States economy by suddenly removing critical, tax-paying workers from all sectors of the economy.
