Here’s an update on the changes we’ve had in OUUC staff over the past month.
When OUUC’s Media Specialist, Jo Sahlin (ze,zir), let me know that they were looking for a full-time position and would be finished at OUUC by the end of August, we started looking for another Media Specialist. With the applications we received, it became clear that two quarter-time positions would be more attractive than the half-time position Jo filled. So, I created two positions: Tech Specialist, responsible for streaming and sound for our services and events, and Communications Specialist, responsible for the website, social media, and how we present to the world.
We’re delighted to welcome Andrea Capere (she/they) as our Communications Specialist. Andrea comes with a wealth of experience in communications as well as film production. Andrea is also cross-training to help fill our tech needs.
Some of you met Kevin Wenger (he/him), who joined us as Tech Specialist until it became clear that he could not devote time to OUUC’s needs and fill his responsibilities to his primary job. Kevin left OUUC in mid-August.
Then, with our gratitude for the work they did for us, Jo Sahlin left OUUC on August 31.
In the absence of someone to fill our tech needs, we are grateful that OUUC Tech Team member Teresa Madsen (she/they) has agreed to fill the position in the interim as we seek someone to fill the position longer-term.
In addition, Kate McCue (she/her), a friend of Andrea Capere and skilled technician for Thurston Community Media, has joined us to help cover our tech needs.
So, you will see Teresa, Andrea, and Kate at the tech table in the sanctuary on Sundays as they cross-train and continue learning our equipment. We remain so grateful to other Tech Team members, Sharon Love (she/her) and Robin Hale, for their continued support for our virtual ministry.
We are all learning how to best keep our connections strong. Thanks for the grace and adaptability as we remember it’s about connection, not perfection!
